Everything Nest does and how it helps — shared household money, budgets, bills, goals, statement imports, AI insights and security, explained in plain language.
Nest is a personal and family finance app that brings everything money-related into one place: income and expenses, shared household spending, bills, savings goals, assets, liabilities and AI-powered insights. It is built for couples and families who want one clear picture of their money — and for anyone managing money in more than one currency.
Nest is free to start. You can create your account, set up a shared space and start tracking money without entering a credit card. There is no trial that suddenly charges you later.
No. Nest works in any modern web browser on your phone, tablet or computer, so there is nothing to install and updates happen automatically. You can add it to your home screen for a one-tap feel.
About two minutes. Create your account, choose your currency, and create a space — a personal space just for you or a shared space you invite your partner or family members to join. The built-in guide walks you through each step.
The interface is available in English, Spanish and French. You can log money in any currency, and each space keeps its own currency so amounts always make sense for where the money actually lives.
A space is a container for a set of finances. Your personal space is yours alone. A family or couples space is shared with the people you invite, and everything inside it — expenses, income, bills, goals, assets — belongs to the space, not to one person. Members can log transactions and see the whole shared picture.
Yes. Every member of a shared space can log income and expenses, pay bills, and contribute to savings goals. Nest remembers who logged what, so you can see each person's activity in the monthly report and when you ask Nest about your money.
Yes. Personal spaces are completely separate from your shared space — what you log there is never visible to other members. Many couples use one shared space for household money and personal spaces for their own spending.
Nest includes a split calculator and shows who logged what, so you can settle up between partners without spreadsheets. For deeper reading, our blog covers how to split expenses with a partner and best practices for joint accounts.
Expenses, income, recurring bills, savings goals, assets (including bank accounts, property and investments) and liabilities (loans, credit cards, mortgages). Everything rolls up into your net worth and the analytics on your dashboard.
Yes. You can upload CSV or PDF bank statements and Nest reads them line by line, detects whether each row is money in or money out, suggests categories, and removes duplicates from previous imports. You review everything on one screen before anything is saved, so nothing enters your books unconfirmed.
A foreign account is a bank account in another country or currency. Each one becomes its own space with its own currency, its own categories and its own starting balance, so amounts stay true to the local currency instead of being mixed into your home totals. You can import statements into a foreign account just like any other space, and switch between spaces to see each account's calendar, goals and dashboard.
Add a bill once with its amount and repeat rule — weekly, biweekly, monthly or yearly — and Nest projects every future due date, marks payments as they happen, and shows what is still due this month on your dashboard and bill calendar.
Safe to Spend turns your month into a daily allowance. It takes your expected income, subtracts the bills still due, what you have already spent and saved, and divides what is left over the days remaining. It also shows what you have spent today and projects where you will end the month at your current pace.
Goals let you set aside money for anything — an emergency fund, a trip, a house down payment. Pick an amount and a target date, contribute over time, and track progress from the Goals tab. Every contribution shows up in your monthly report.
Ask Nest is an assistant that answers questions about your actual money: how much you spent this month, who logged an expense, what your last payments were, how your savings are going, and more. It answers using the real numbers in your space and its own currency, and it tells you when it doesn't have the data instead of making something up.
No. Ask Nest is instructed to answer only from your recorded data and to say so when something is not in there. It also cites the actual figures it uses, so you can check any answer against your own transactions.
At the end of each month Nest builds a complete report of everything that happened: totals by category, income sources, your largest expenses, who logged what, goal contributions, and how the month compared with the one before. You get a notification when it is ready, and you can browse past months at any time.
You can link your assets to live market prices — stocks, indices, commodities and major cryptocurrencies — and Nest keeps their values up to date in your space currency, showing gains and losses against what you paid. The public Markets page also lets anyone follow live crypto, stock and currency prices, and convert amounts into their own currency.
Yes. Your data is stored in an encrypted cloud database, every request is checked against strict access rules so only members of a space can see its data, and your personal spaces are isolated from shared ones. We never sell your data. Read our security page for details.
Only members of the space you log into. Your partner sees your shared space activity; your personal spaces stay yours. Invitations require a code, and you control who is in each space.
Nest does not hold your bank credentials. You log transactions yourself or import statements you download from your bank, which keeps your banking logins out of the app entirely.
Yes. Each space has its own currency, so a family budget in Canada and an account abroad in Colombian pesos can live side by side without mixing rates. The Markets page can convert and display prices in your preferred currency too.
The fastest way to understand Nest is to try it — setup takes about two minutes and it is free to start. Our guide explains each feature step by step, and our calculators and blog go deeper into budgeting methods for couples and families.
